Christmas Poem
SNOW WALTZ
A wintry waltz debuts today;
Shimmering ballroom on display.
With swirls and twirls cascading down,
Soft snowflakes dancing ’round the town.
Fresh scent of pines all clothed in white;
A scarlet cardinal, God’s delight.
Red and white, a visual story,
Painting our Creator’s glory.
The icy flakes fall on my nose.
I feel my pinching, frozen toes.
But waltzing snowflakes warm my heart;
I’ve loved this season from the start.
I hear the silence of this dance,
While looking upward in a trance.
The crystal gems of art and grace
In triple time spin into place.
The waltz portrays snow’s purity,
More than my human eyes can see.
Before the white will touch the earth,
Untainted symbol, my new birth.
Whiter than snow—how can it be?
The waltz falls gently over me.
A gift from God, this holy lace,
That I may see Him face to face.
***
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
(Psalm 51:7)
